Yyyouch!Posted By: Shagz Ok, I probably should have saw this coming when I announced a new mix, an exclusive Gig List mix AND a new broadcast on the same day, but I didn't think it would actually happen: I've exceeded my monthly bandwidth quota. You crazy cats 'n dogs have downloaded 18 GIGS of data in just a week!! Crazy...a victim of my own success it seems! I'll be keeping up the broadcast for as long as I can, or at least until the end of the week when I would normally take it down, but the Classic Breaks mix as well as most of the other mixes samplers in the DJ Mixes section will all be taken down until next month. We'll see how the rest of the month goes - hopefully I won't have to shut down the site! :P Gig List members: your mix is still up, but I'll be taking it down soon, so if you haven't downloaded it yet, get it quick! Lastly, I'm working on getting new copies of A Cup of Coffee made but things are a bit tight this month so a new run will be delayed for a while. If you're interested in getting in on the next batch, make sure you contact me with your details so I can put you on the list. PS - If you're looking for the DJ Shagz wallpapers I created a while back, just check that there link down the right hand side - "Cover your desktop with Shagz" - for 'em. 2005-03-11 10:07am - Note! There was a problem with the comments functionality on the website, which I just fixed, so if you've been itching to leave a comment and couldn't...well now you can scratch that itch! 2005-03-17 12:13am - Note...again! Ok, so I still didn't fix the comment thing like I thought I did...but it's NOW fixed, I swear. No more problems.
Broadcast Tonight!Posted By: Shagz Just a reminder of tonight's broadcast, which will be going live in just a few minutes. Just me, a mic, two decks, a CD player and almost a decade of music collecting at my back. Listen for Paul Nice's rare remix of the Beastie Boy's Hey Ladies and check out Nostalgia 77's cover of Seven Nation Army. We got it all - so get listening!.
New Mix - Classic BreaksPosted By: Shagz Well, "new" is a bit inaccurate. It's new to the site, and new to you, but I actually put it together back in 2003 as a demo mix for The DJ List ([begin plug]Vote for me![end plug]) and just never released it to the public. Thought I should rectify that so here you go. A 64 min funky breaks affair featuring some older breakbeat tunes and lots of Finger Lickin' Records releases, the emphasis is definitely on dance floor booty shaking. It's b-boy stance inducing me thinks. ;-) Enjoy!
Broadcast, next week....Posted By: Shagz It's been a while so I thought I'd sit down and put together some good tunes for a new internet broadcast. This time around I played things really, really loose and relaxed. Hardly any beat matching or mixing, a few effects here and there, but that's pretty much it. I just played it by the seat of my pants, just yanking out old and new tracks from through out my collection. Needless to say, the results are pretty eclectic, so make sure you tune in - you'll hear some pretty wild covers of some very familar songs, some good ol' funk, old school hip hop, some tweaky electronic beats and other audio goodness. So check back in here next week, Thursday, March 3rd after 9pm!
A little quiet...Posted By: Shagz ...but that doesn't mean I haven't been working on stuff. :) Working right now towards piecing together a couple of new promo mixes, just figuring out the track listings. And there's some other stuff going on in the background but I don't want to say anything, otherwise I might jinx it. I'm definitely excited about it though. :) Also, I ran out of copies of Cup of Coffee, but I hope to get new ones made up in the near future. If you in on the next round, make sure you contact me. I'd also like to say "hey ya" to all the brand new people who have been visiting site. Last month was insane. I'm not entirely sure where you're all coming from (I've got some e-mails from some Austrians, Brits and Yanks), but in one month my bandwidth doubled and my unique visitors quadrupled. So greetings to all the knew ears 'n eyeballs! Hope you enjoy your stay. A'ight, before I bail, I'll leave you with Kenny Muhammad, the Human Orchestra, performing with the New York Philharmonic.
